About me

Martin Rother is a German actor and filmmaker. He began his career as a theatre actor and worked for many years on renowned stages in the German-speaking world. His artistic focus has since shifted to national and international film and television productions, ranging from arthouse cinema to mainstream formats.

Rother gained international attention through his role in the feature film Sound of Falling (Germany, 2025), directed by Mascha Schilinski, which won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was selected as Germany’s official submission for the OSCARS 2026. In addition to acting, he has worked as a director and filmmaker. His short film Dancing the World (2013) won the Wormland Movie Award 48/90 for Best Film and Best Actor, while All Things Pass (2014) was screened at several international festivals.

How I relate to the BJF

“In 2014, I heard for the first time about the inspiring story of the Black Jaguar Foundation during one of the coaching sessions I participate in at New Vision + Power. At such sessions, we learn to improve on many aspects in life, such as the power of giving! We are truly fortunate to donate to a select number of charities which dare to make a positive impact on our planet. The Black Jaguar Foundation has for sure become one of my favorite charities to give back to.’’
